Wedding Flowers

Selecting your Wedding Flowers

Getting married is a very special time and most couples want every single detail of that day to be perfect. Plenty of time and effort goes into planning a wedding to make sure it is perfect. One important issue that has to be addressed is your wedding flowers. They need to be the same colors as those you selected to represent your wedding. Many wedding flowers are dyed so that they are the perfect color to match those of the wedding. The biggest issue is deciding which type of flowers to choose.

The flowers you choose may depend on what types are special to you. Did your spouse to be give you a certain flower when they first said they loved you? Maybe you just enjoy the scent of a particular type of flower. If you don't have any personal preference your florist can assist you with coming up with the right combination of wedding flowers for your big day. Make sure you contact the florist months in advance to be sure they can provide you with the wedding flowers you are interested in.

Keep in mind that the flowers that are in season at the time of your wedding are going to be the least expensive if the budget is a concern for you. There is also the option of making the wedding flowers on your own with the help of family and friends. This may be too stressful for you to do so close to the date of your wedding though so think this through carefully.

You also have the option of using silk wedding flowers instead of live ones. This will be less expensive and you don't have to worry about storing them in a cool place so they don't get destroyed. Silk wedding flowers can also be made months in advance so it isn't one more item to add to your list in the last few days before the ceremony takes place.

There are plenty of great books available on how to make your own wedding flowers so don't worry if you have no experience. You can practice making a few before you commit to buying all of the items you will need. This way if you find it isn't a project you are able to complete you haven't wasted your money. It is very likely that you will have a creative friend or family member who will be willing to complete the wedding flowers for you as well.

Having the right wedding flowers is very important so take your time choosing them. They will be a very important part of your wedding ceremony as well as the reception. In addition to having flowers for your bouquet they make excellent decorations at the location of the wedding ceremony and at the reception.

After the event is over you can preserve your wedding flowers by drying them. You need to do this in the first few days after the wedding for best results. Take the flowers you want to keep from the arrangement and press them in a heavy book. Let them stay there for about 10 weeks. You can then place the arrangement in a beautiful frame.
